Mesothelioma Asbestos is the scarring of the tissue of the lung by inhaling asbestos particles. Lung cancer occurs when malignant cells originate in the lung. This is the most common form of asbestos related cancer form. Lung cancer can be developed from smoking because of asbestos exposure. Mesothelioma is the most dangerous of all asbestos diseases. Mesothelioma is a rare form of cancer that affects the stomach or chest but also it could also affect the heart. The National Cancer Institute defines malignant mesothelioma as "as a rare form of cancer disease in which cancer cells are found in the sac lining the chest, the lining of the abdominal cavity or the lining around the heart." Pleural Mesothelioma is the scarring of the pleura (lung). |
