Mesothelioma Research of Asbestos Exposure
Much of the mesothelioma
research is spent how the cells are affected and changed by
asbestos
exposure. Drug companies and the government are the sponsors behind the
research and development because mesothelioma research is extremely
expensive. Mesothelioma is a form of cancer
associated with asbestos exposure and is the subject of ongoing medical and scientific research. There
are many organizations that are involved with the research of mesothelioma
including the companies that are responsible for
mesothelioma cancer through
the exposure of asbestos at work.
The National Institute of Cancer is working very hard to cure mesothelioma, its
symptoms and
treatments. They currently sponsor clinical trials
designed to find new treatments for people diagnosed with mesothelioma.
These Mesothelioma Clinical Trials are being conducted on actual patients
and may be a valuable treatment option for some patients. These trials are
considered necessary to determine the effectiveness of new approaches to
dealing with mesothelioma.
In the last few years, there has been a lot of attention on mesothelioma
research.. Both the medical profession and many drug makers have focused
attention on the disease. This has resulted in the development of promising
new drug and chemotherapies including Alimta, which promise to re-define
future cancer treatment. Alimta® (pemetrexed) in combination with cisplatin
(Platinol®) was recently approved by the United States Food and Drug
Administration (FDA) for the treatment of inoperable malignant mesothelioma.
Alimta®/cisplatin is the first and only drug regimen proven to improve the
duration of survival for patients with advanced
malignant mesothelioma.
Below are a few organizations that can provide you with more information
